Our mission

Anchored by Bass Pro Shops, the region’s largest Belk, and the area’s only Marshalls, the 250-acre complex generates record store-opening traffic and revenue for its retailers and sheer joy for its visitors.

 

Located just off I-81 at Exit 74B, more than 60,000 vehicles pass by or turn into The Pinnacle daily. Near the intersection of I-81 (North-South) and I-26 (East-West), it is at the crossroads of significant populations within the Tri-Cities, TN/VA region as well as visitors to the area. Within its service area, nearly 750,000 consumers enjoy easy assess to The Pinnacle from Northeast Tennessee, Eastern Kentucky, Western North Carolina and Southwest Virginia.

Phase one development includes over a million square feet of retail, dining, medical, office, hotel and entertainment options at full build out. The plan includes an outdoor amphitheater and a 12-screen cinema that is second to none in Tennessee or Virginia. In August 2016, the region’s only CarMax opened. The Pinnacle Lake is a world-class catch-and-release lake aquatically balanced to be the home of bass, trout and other species.

Construction began on the project in 2013. Bass Pro Shops opened in the fall of 2014, and in the spring of 2015, two anchors and nearly two-dozen other retailers were either open, under construction, or set with leases for their new location.

The Pinnacle is also a significant economic engine for the region. By elevating employment to over 1,000 at Pinnacle retailers, to the sales tax generated from consumer purchases, the development has been embraced by local, regional and state officials for its economic benefit.

Phase two development plans include an additional 250 acres of adjoining land in Virginia that offers the chance to elevate expectations again, with opportunities for additional retail, recreation and residential neighborhoods.
